Volcanic drill in Tenerife: ES-Alert test on 22 October

On Thursday 22 October, Tenerife will test the ES-Alert public warning system as part of the VOLCANEX Tenerife 2026 volcanic emergency drill. The CECOES 112 emergency coordination centre plans to send three messages between 09:00 and 14:00. One will target the whole island and another will focus on Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide, where the preventive evacuation of Chirche and Aripe will be simulated.

Compatible phones connected to the mobile network may beep and vibrate. Messages will be clearly marked TEST. There is no real eruption, no evacuation or shelter-in-place order, and no need to reply or call 112. Read the message, press Accept and continue your normal plans unless authorities later announce a real emergency through official channels.
