Santiago del Teide changes completely over a short distance. The coast is near sea level, Tamaimo occupies the middle slopes and upper villages approach 1,000 metres. This height difference shapes weather, timings and clothing.
Coast: sea, services and cliffs
Los Gigantes, Puerto de Santiago and Playa de la Arena concentrate beaches, marina, food and accommodation. Sea state and parking shape the day.
Middle slopes: Tamaimo
Tamaimo is the transition between coast and interior. Roads, ravines and viewpoints show the changing relief before the upper valley.
Upper area: villages and heritage
Santiago del Teide, Valle de Arriba, Las Manchas, El Molledo, El Retamar and Arguayo bring together farming, churches, architecture and trails. Temperatures can be much lower than on the coast.
Volcanic landscape: Chinyero
Lava and pine forest explain recent history. Check closures, use designated routes and distinguish a temporarily closed visitor centre from access conditions in the wider outdoor landscape.
