The upper area contains six distinct communities: Valle de Arriba, Santiago del Teide, Las Manchas, El Molledo, El Retamar and Arguayo. They are close in distance but should be visited as lived-in places, not scenery.
Valle de Arriba and the town
Valle de Arriba retains farmland and memories of Chinyero. The main town brings together San Fernando Rey, Casa del Patio and useful visitor services.
Las Manchas, El Molledo and El Retamar
These villages reveal squares, churches, paths and everyday architecture. Keep stops respectful and never block residential access.
Arguayo and pottery
Arguayo has a clear craft identity. Cha Domitila and the approach paths combine culture, scenery and walking.
Plan in small groups
Use one morning for the town and Valle de Arriba, and another combination for Arguayo and nearby villages. Confirm museums, avoid the hottest hours and allow time for local roads.
