Los Gigantes Marina: parking, boats and excursions

Los Gigantes marina is where almost all of the municipality's sea activity starts: boat trips, kayaking, jet skis, whale watching, and the Poblado Marinero itself for a walk and a meal. A bit of history

It was built in 1975 and was the first marina in Tenerife: before it opened, Los Gigantes was little more than a scattered fishing settlement at the foot of the cliffs. Its opening marked the shift from fishing village to tourist destination, and it still underpins much of the municipality's sea activity today.

Where to park and prices

There is paid public parking right by the marina, but it fills up easily by mid-morning in high season: don't rely on finding a space at the last minute, especially if you have an excursion booked for a set time. How to get there: on foot, by bus or by car

If you're staying in Los Gigantes, the marina is a few minutes' walk from the village centre, downhill; the way back means climbing the same slope, so allow time if you're carrying gear or travelling with children. By bus, TITSA lines 325, 473 and 477 connect Los Gigantes with other parts of Tenerife; check timetables on the day at titsa.com, since frequencies aren't those of a city. By car, access is via the TF-454, with steep streets on the final stretch down to the marina.

The Poblado Marinero and Playa de Los Guíos

The Poblado Marinero is the cluster of pedestrian streets, shops, activity agencies and terraces around the marina: the place to stroll, compare excursions in person, pick up something or sit down to eat without moving away from the water. Right next to it, Playa de Los Guíos is the local volcanic-sand beach, small but very photogenic beneath the cliffs, and a convenient spot for a swim before or after any excursion leaving the marina.

Excursions leaving from the marina

Practically all of the municipality's sea activity departs from here. Whale watching is the most sought-after activity: the channel between Tenerife and La Gomera is home year-round to short-finned pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins, and observation is regulated by the Canary Islands government, which requires authorisation and a minimum distance of 60 metres from the animals. Kayaking to Masca bay combines paddling, snorkelling and swimming, and usually works best early in the day, before the afternoon wind picks up. Jet skiing is about driving and speed, while the scenic boat trip is the most comfortable option with children or reduced mobility.

Services for boats: fuel, berths and maintenance

The marina has 362 berths, for boats up to 20 metres and drafts of up to 3-3.9 metres at the entrance at low tide, and has been operating since 1975. It offers a fuel station, water and electricity on all seven pontoons, a boatyard of around 2,230 m² with a travel lift for repairs and maintenance, a mechanical workshop, ice, hull pressure-washing and waste collection. Confirm berth availability and terms directly with the harbour office before sailing in.

Opening hours, contact and VHF channel

The port office publishes hours of Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm, on +34 822 199 996 and info@puertolosgigantes.com. If you're sailing in, the contact VHF channel is 9: the usual advice is to call when you're within 5 nautical miles of the port to receive berthing instructions. Some external nautical guides publish longer harbour-office hours, 9 am to 7 pm daily, with a duty officer outside that window; if in doubt, confirm by VHF or phone rather than relying only on this page.

The Poblado Marinero has flat pedestrian stretches by the water, though the access from central Los Gigantes is steep and can be demanding in a wheelchair or with reduced mobility. We have not found an official accessibility statement for the pontoons or for the boats run by operators here: if you have reduced mobility, check directly with your excursion operator before booking, since conditions vary a lot from one boat to another.
