Centro de Visitantes Chinyero
An interpretation centre about the 1909 eruption, the volcanic landscape and Santiago del Teide’s relationship with Chinyero.
The Chinyero Visitor Centre explains why the volcano is central to Santiago del Teide’s identity. Multimedia resources present the 1909 eruption from geological and social perspectives, showing how it changed the land and affected the people of the valley.
The exhibition also covers Tenerife’s volcanology, the municipality’s natural and cultural resources and its trail network. It is useful context before exploring the volcanic landscape.
The municipal tourism portal currently reports that the centre is temporarily closed for electrical-system improvements. Do not make a special journey without confirming that it has reopened.
